What was your reaction: I was amazed by how much detail was put into the environment and the experience it's self. At first it was very slow and nothing moved but by the end there was amazing 4D shows and amazing effects that gave the audience a sense that they were apart of the world, they were also put into situations or in angles that enhanced the experience and just made it that more immersive. I thought a particularly cool part was when Jack Sparrow was brought to life with a lighting bolt. This was the starting point of when everything started to move and became epic. I also thought the scene with the pirate war was very clever. It was all done on a 360 screen but it looked seamless when put up against the water.

What connections did you make with the work you just viewed: It was definitely a narrative driven ride. And because the movies are so well known we can assume that the average rider is familiar with the characters portrayed. So from the start we are rooting for Jack Sparrow to succeed, to trick Davy Jones, and to steal the treasure. Which he does, but the experience is filled with action, and anticipation which makes the rider become more invested in the outcome. I personally was on the edge of my seat! As mentioned before the way this ride was handled was visually stunning and to add the elements of the beloved characters and drama makes this ride like sitting in an action packed movie. It also helps that everything is spaced out so you don't just look in one direction.

What changes would you make to adapt this into another medium?: I think if I was going to change this into another format it would be a VR game. This already has such interesting and interactive narrative elements and is spaced out in a way that makes you actually move and interact with the world it' self. So putting the world on your face and moving your whole body so that you could effect the outcome would probably push this experience to be even greater. And if Disney it's self wanted to up their game I think just having this ride and adding VR sets and maybe actually getting splashed just a little would make it feel incredibly real.
